Wedding Wednesday: Sweet Things

There was one thing I knew and that was that I absolutely did not want a big white cake. It was one thing I was adamant about. As our budget was small I also wanted the alternative to double as the dessert at lunch. The big cakes/pies are from Bills. Everything else made by some lovely family members as our wedding gift. Not pictured are some enormous pavlovas.

We couldn't have cared less about individual favours and instead had a pick 'n' mix table with all our favourite childhood sweets. The blue M&Ms were brought back by my Dad from New York. You can now buy them in the UK and even get personalised ones.

All other sweets from a cash and carry. I had double what you can see in this photo and in total that was about £60 worth of sweets at trade price.  I've also since discovered Pearl and Earl have lovely paper bags.

The only thing I would do differently with the sweet table is buy bigger containers- possibly all the same as the IKEA vase the Flying Saucers are in. In our house, this set up looked big but in the venue which was a big open space it lost impact.

  1. Love it! I think it's great doing these DIYs..it saves so much money. I'd do the same myself.

  2. I bet all your guests were on a sugar high!? we're thinking about sweets and things instead of a proper dessert table, but if I had my way there would be no 'proper' dinner and just a shed load of cakes and snacks... but we really ought to feed people I guess!
